I learned this ode to the Magnolia State from my mother who learned it from her father. “I want you to know of the state I love best,” it begins. Though we don’t know the origins of the song, we’ve always cherished it as a family. Recently I decided to have this painting, which has lived in my mother’s home for seven years now, made into a print so that other Mississippians can appreciate these sweet words about our home state.
11”X14” paper. Proudly painted and printed in Corinth, Mississippi, by Anna Evans.
